We talk more about this on the Technology & Build pages but, essentially, our houses are predominantly timber, locking away carbon in the structure of the house.
The materials are selected to increase the performance of the building, and therfore reduce the amount of power that is required to heat and operate the building, this having the biggest carbon reducing impact, referencing the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Our windows are solid oak, or engineered pine. Floors are wooden, and natural rubber flooring products are used in wet areas along with high quality tiling.
Natural insulation manufactured from forest thinnings and recycled timber is used in the walls of the building.
